![]() The thing I enjoy the most about being an online business owner is this: Nobody can take away what I have built with SBI!. My youngest daughter has just had a baby, my first grandchild, and I was able to take a 10 week break from working on the site to help her and to get to know my grandson. ![]() Now I work from home I have far more time to be there for them and to be part of their lives. That means I can work on them when I want and work my schedule around their days off! Cheryl Hatch, Īs a single parent I had always found it hard to balance being out at work and being at home with my children. But, not anymore! My online businesses ARE my job now. Finding a day that works to visit required balancing their individual work and college schedules and my own set work schedule. Darlene Abarquez, įor me it is the time flexibility and freedom it provides. I can do my work just about anywhere as long as there is an internet connection. The biggest benefit for me as a Mom is the flexibility with my working schedule and the location on where I am working. My weekends are devoted almost exclusively to my husband and kids, as my chores are done as soon as they come up, instead of spending weekends doing them. I take them to various sports and arts activities every day, and even tutor them in subjects they love and don’t get enough of at school. Really the VERY best thing about being an online business owner for me is all the free time I can have with my kids when they come home from school. It’s a change of mind set and something that wasn’t a possibility for me before. The thought that one day we can go to different parts of the world and still continue to work and share the beauty of stained glass is a real change for me. Suzanne Vennard, Īnd there’s something else too – the dream of possibilities that working online with a scaleable model brings. But most of all, after all these years, I still get an enormous kick out of receiving e-mails that tell me how much pleasure dancing has brought to someone’s life. It means that sitting at my desk is a genuine choice and a happy one. For me, the fact that I can get up from my desk and go and do something else, ironically keeps me right there. Like a lot of the others in the series, my answer is a version of ‘freedom’. Making money in your sleep is also very cool. I love having permission to thoroughly explore something that fascinates me because ‘It’s my business’. It’s given me freedom to work around my busy schedule, to raise a baby (who is now a busy toddler), and everything else that comes with the craziness of life. ![]() I love being self employed and owning my own business! I work when I want, for however long (or little) that I want, and I do it wherever I want. I have never liked working for others because I don’t like to be told what to do, so working for myself is critical to my happiness! Patty “Sassy” Knutson, I have complete control over all aspects of my website. I get an idea, and I can make plans to implement it. It is one of the highest forms of creativity. First of all as I said before I never have to worry about bills, or finding the time to do things anymore. Oh my life has changed in so many ways it feels unreal. Being able to do what we want, when we want, and where we want. The number one thing for us is the freedom. So if you’re interested in exploring a home-based business idea or the transition from freelancer to entrepreneur, read on to hear everything these online business owners love about the lifestyle. It made me curious – how is it for other “everyday solopreneurs”? Do they feel the same way? So I turned to the 16 people we’ve interviewed in our “Entrepreneur Spotlight” series to find out more.Īnd guess what? Freedom is the most frequent answer to the questions “What do you enjoy most about being a solopreneur?” and “Has your life changed since you started your online business?” Living and working out of an RV, attending to clients in the wee hours, going for a run in the early morning when others get ready for work… Amy’s lifestyle incorporates that motto inside out. In her recent article, my colleague Amy made a bold statement: Solopreneurship is personal freedom.
